Dr. Martin Blank, PhD, of Columbia University and one of the most experienced researchers of the cellular and molecular effects of EMFs in the United States, gave an informative speech at the November 18, 2010 Commonwealth Club of California program, “The Health Effects of Electromagnetic Fields,” co-sponsored by ElectromagneticHealth.org.

Dr. Blank spoke with deep experience and commanding authority on the impact of EMFs on cells and DNA, and explained why your DNA, with its ‘coil of coils’ structure, is especially vulnerable to electromagnetic fields of all kinds. As described in the International Journal of Radiation Biology, DNA possesses the two structural characteristics of fractal antennas, electronic conduction and self-symmetry.ⁱⁱⁱ

These properties contribute to greater reactivity of DNA to electromagnetic fields than other tissues, making the long-term consequences of repeated microwave exposures to our genetic material of great concern. Dr. Blank is adamant when he says that there IS evidence of harm, and that the harm can be significant. He also points out that the science showing harmful effects has been peer-reviewed, published, and that the results have been replicated, evaluated and “judged by scientists capable of judging it.”

Even barring all the scientific evidence, it simply makes sense that laptops, cell phones and other wireless technology can impact the human body once you understand that your body is bioelectric. Your body contains electrons that keep an electrical current flowing, and inside every cell are mitochondria, the ‘power plants’ of the cell that respond to the body’s natural electromagnetic fields.

As Dr. Maret explains in an interview with ElectromagneticHealth.org, your body is a complex communication system where cells, tissues, organs, and organisms “talk” — it’s a veritable “electronic symphony in your body.”^iv This communication includes finely tuned bio-electrical transmitters and receivers, which are tuned like tuning into a radio station. And when you expose a radio antenna to a significant amount of external noise, you get static, and that is what is happening to your body in today’s EMF-saturated environment.

This article may seem to address many issues. I assure you it addresses but one issue. The deliberate poisoning of mother earth and the inhabitants who dwell here.

There is something very wrong going on today on a global level. This article is not political and is not siding with any entity except one “The saving of mother earth and all who dwell here”

Who would have the power to do such horrific and undo-able damage to all life forms and indeed earth itself?

Good question. Under the disguise of being green and in an effort to slow global warming is it possible that the choices being made on this issue are literally poisoning all of us to death?

In an effort to slow global warming it appears our government and a team of scientist came up with a plan. Unbeknown to us it was discovered that particles of Aluminum, Barium, and Strontium can make a film in the sky and block harmful rays from the sun.

What kind of moron does it take to not look one step further and realize this solution will cure the problem by killing everything carbon based on the planet (you and me), including the surface of the planet itself.

There have been some alarming reports from hunters, and reports by MD’s on this issue. Just this past few seasons hunters have noticed that antlers, deer antlers are more brittle and weak. The trophy does not look as great with broken antlers. What is happening? This phenomena is being studied and the results should chill you to the bone.
Scientist have found that the level of Manganese in the deer population has dropped drastically.

The cause being colder weather, the sun being blocked and plants are not able to flourish and grow to optimum strength as they have since time began here on earth.

Yes, some of the symptoms of global warming does cause colder weather, and warmer weather. It brings on more severe storms and and greater extremes in our weather. It throws off the natural cycle of the food chain on this planet and that is why so many are making such a fuss about it.
Rather than address the problem it appears our government is looking for a quick fix, one that will kill all of us.

Cell Phones and Brain Tumers

Sharesa Price thought it was just another in a series of sinus infections. Her head and eyes hurt, and she was vomiting. But then Price had a seizure, and a brain scan found something far more troubling.

“When I got home, the phone was ringing. It was the doctor’s office, and they told me, `Brace yourself. Honey, you have a brain tumor.’ I was standing by the refrigerator, and I just collapsed, saying, `no, no, no, it can’t be a brain tumor,'” she recalled.

After her diagnosis in 1999 and surgery to remove most of the tumor, Price started looking for answers. She became convinced that exposure to radio-frequency radiation on the job, where she programmed cell phones for new customers, had caused the tumor.

In May, an administrative law judge who handles worker’s compensation claims awarded her $30,000 to pay her medical bills and other expenses. Price may be the first person to convince a judge that her illness was caused by radio-frequency radiation. The decision is unlikely to have widespread repercussions for the cell phone industry, however, because the settlement was small.

Price’s customers at Advanced Communications Systems in northern California were doctors, firefighters, police departments and security departments for casinos, and she loved her work. She used a cell phone several hours each day, and the room in which she worked contained transmitters that emitted radio-frequency radiation, she said.

Price said when she filed a workers comp claim, her boss fired her, eliminating her health insurance. Then she lost the case. The Native American single mother of two daughters was devastated. She turned to Tribal Health, a government health agency for Native Americans, to get anti-seizure medication.

“If I hadn’t been Indian, I would have died,” she said.

Her former boss, Dave Bohlen, said that he did not fire Price, that she quit based on her doctor’s advice that she not return to work there. Bohlen said he dropped the insurance because she was no longer an employee. He called her worker’s comp case “frivolous” and said there was no proof her tumor was caused by working in his small shop.

“There’s nothing harmful going on here,” he said.

After Price recovered from brain surgery, she went to the Internet and found researchers studying the biological effects of radio-frequency radiation, and got to know them.

“I would call them up and say, `You are absolutely dead on. If a rat could talk, this is what it would say. I’m the human rat.’ ”

Price couldn’t find an attorney to take her case until she contacted Carl Hilliard, a semi-retired lawyer and president of the Wireless Consumers Alliance, a California-based consumer-advocacy group. Hilliard volunteered to represent her pro bono and re-filed her workers comp case.

Hilliard said his group has represented cell phone users in issues involving poor service, billing problems and misrepresentations by cell phone service providers.

“We’re the ones who filed a case saying federal law does not pre-empt state law [on consumer issues] and won that case four years ago,” Hilliard said.

Hilliard brought in Dr. Nachman Brautbar, an occupational toxicologist and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, to review Price’s medical records.

Brautbar has been an expert witness in a number of high-profile cases, including the chromium poisonings from polluted drinking water portrayed in the movie Erin Brockovich.

Brautbar reviewed Price’s case and wrote a report supporting her claim that the tumor was caused by exposure to radio-frequency radiation.

“It’s not a money issue, suing the company, it’s a health and safety issue,” said Price, who speaks to school assemblies and classes about the need to use a headset when talking on a cell phone. “We need to explain to people that just like putting on condoms, you have to take this precautionary measure to make the product be as safe as it can be.”

Decision Proposed Decision of Commissioner Peevey (Mailed 1/22/2012) BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, On the proposed decision 11-03-014

Dear Commissioners:

The Board of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine opposes the installation of wireless “smart meters” in homes and schools based on a scientific assessment of the current medical literature (references available on request). Chronic exposure to wireless radiofrequency radiation is a preventable environmental hazard that is sufficiently well documented to warrant immediate preventative public health action.

As representatives of physician specialists in the field of environmental medicine, we have an obligation to urge precaution when sufficient scientific and medical evidence suggests health risks which can potentially affect large populations. The literature raises serious concern regarding the levels of radio frequency (RF – 3 KHz – 300 GHz) or extremely low frequency (ELF – o- 300 Hz) exposures produced by “smart meters” to warrant an immediate and complete moratorium on their use and deployment until further study can be performed. The board of the American Board of Environmental Medicine wishes to point out that existing FCC guidelines for RF safety that have been used to justify installation of “smart meters” only look at thermal tissue damage and are obsolete, since many modern studies show metabolic and genomic damage from RF and ELF exposures below the level of intensity which heats tissues. The FCC guidelines are therefore inadequate for use in establishing public health standards. More modern literature shows medically and biologically significant effects of RF and ELF at lower energy densities. These effects accumulate over time, which is an important consideration given the chronic nature of exposure from “smart meters”. The current medical literature raises credible questions about genetic and cellular effects, hormonal effects, male fertility, blood/brain barrier damage and increased risk of certain types of cancers from RF or ELF levels similar to those emitted from “smart meters”. Children are placed at particular risk for altered brain development, and impaired learning and behavior. Further EMF/RF adds synergistic effects to the damage

observed from a range of toxic chemicals. Given the widespread, chronic and essentially inescapable ELF/RF exposure of everyone living near a “smart meter”, the Board of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine finds it unacceptable from a public health standpoint to implement this technology until these serious medical concerns are resolved. We consider a moratorium on installation of wireless “smart meters” to be an issue of the highest importance.

The Board of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine also wises to note that the US NIEHS National Toxicology Program in 1999 cited radiofrequency radiation as a potential carcinogen. Existing safety limits for pulsed RF were termed “not protective of public health” by the Radiofrequency Interagency Working Group (a federal interagency working group including the FDA, FCC, OSHA, the EPA and others). Emissions given off by “smart meters” have been classified by the World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a Possible Human Carcinogen.

Hence, we call for:

• An immediate moratorium on “smart meter” installation until these serious public

health issues are resolved. Continuing with their installation would be extremely

irresponsible.

• Modify the revised proposed decision to include hearings on health impact in the

second proceedings, along with cost evaluation and community wide opt-out.

• Provide immediate relief to those requesting it and restore the analog meters.

We must push for an Opt In option..This is the only option that gives us protection of the US Constitution. See Article “Opt Out is not a win!”

1- The people of Las Vegas were not asked nor was anybody told the facts about smart meters. NVE did a very low profile introduction campaign bringing the smart meters into the neighborhoods of Las Vegas very quickly and without prior installation orientation or allowing choices whether to receive them or not. On Jan 11, 2012 the PUCN issued an Interim Order for Docket #11-10007 instructing NVE to “enhance its customer outreach efforts and provide better training to is installation vendor, Scope Services and NVE employees within 10 days or face administrative fines pursuant to NRS 703.380

2- The contract DE-OE0000205 for the 138 million NVE received is both from the DOE (31 USC 6304) and DOD (10 USC 2358) department of defense. Even though public comments in the form of a properly arranged exhibit was accepted by the PUCN, no response to why the DOD is a part of this contract has been received by the public to date.

3- NVE admits the meters do emit RF (Radio Frequency) radiation but they only claim for 5 seconds a day maximum. Using an RF detection meter the RF 35C-W I found that they are emitting a much higher frequency of emissions and at least 5 times a minute. That is 7,200 times a day your DNA is being hit by blasts of RF emissions. As consumers we have a choice whether to use a hands free telephone, a microwave, a dish TV antenna or Wi-Fi in our homes or businesses. However, we do not have a choice when it comes to the smart meters and this is an invasion of privacy, creating a vulnerability to adverse hacking and exposing us to health risks that we can not protect ourselves against.

4- The National Toxicity report to see if these metes are even safe for humans will not be complete until 2014 and yet NVE has already installed 650, 000 of these meters in Southern Nevada and is implementing their rollout in northern Nevada even as I write this. FCC standards do not exist for chronic long-term exposure to EMF or from multiple sources, and reported adverse health effects from electromagnetic pollution include sleep disorders, irritability, short term memory loss, headaches, anxiety, nausea, DNA breaks, abnormal cell growth, cancer, early fatigue, etc. Because of untested technology, international scientists, environmental agencies, advocacy groups and doctors are calling for the use of caution in wireless technologies.

5- Concerns about the accuracy of smart meters have been raised nationwide, leading the Maryland Public Service Commission to deny permission on June 21, 2010 for the deployment of smart meters in that state. The state of Hawaii Public Utility commission also recently declined to adopt a smart grid system in that state. The CPUC currently has pending before it a petition from the City and County of San Francisco, and other municipalities, seeking to delay the implementation of smart meters until questions about their accuracy can be evaluated. There are 46 counties and cities in Ca that have placed a moratorium on the installation of smart meters until more research and accurate information about them can be obtained.

6 – NVE claims that smart meters will save money for NVE customers but in actuality will raise their monthly utility rate; some customers already reporting twice the amount of normal billing amounts. We know personally, 5 NVE customers whose utility bills were so high after smart meter replaced their old analog meter that they requested an immediate change out back to the analog meter. At the last PUCN workshop I personally witnessed one customer who was billed over $12,000 after his smart meter was installed.

7- Smart meters that monitor the ebb and flow of electrical usage into our homes discloses detailed information about private details of our daily lives. Energy usage data, measured moment by moment, allows the reconstruction of a household’s activities; when people wake up, when they come home, when they go on vacation, and even when they take a hot bath. Smart meters represent a new form of technology that relays detailed hitherto confidential information reflecting the times and amounts of the use of electrical power without adequately protecting that data from being accessed by unauthorized persons or entities and as such pose an unreasonable intrusion of utility customer’s privacy rights and security interests.

8-The Attorney Generals office BCP (Bureau of Consumer Protection) filed a docket 2 Years ago # 10-02009 (July 28^th, 2010) that stated the smart meter was intrusive and violated the 4th amendment of the constitution the Nevada Constitution and obliterated a persons right to privacy. The BCP also filed 7 other concerns about the deployment of smart meters. They included: Technological risks, Deployment and customer acceptance risks, customer behavior study risks, cyber security risks, consumer protection, cost and budget risks and benefit risks.

9- The citizens of NV have not been told the truth about the meters. The PUCN has NOT protected its citizens by forcing NVE to tell the truth. It appears no due diligence was done on the impact in the health, welfare or economics of the smart meter roll out. The primary justification given for the smart meters program is the assertion that I will encourage customers to move some of their electricity usage from daytime to evening hours; however, NVE has conducted no actual pilot projects with smart meters to determine whether this assumption is in fact correct. Non-transmitting time-of day meters are already available for customers who desire them, and enhanced customer education is a viable non-technological alternative to encourage electricity use time shifting. These meters give total control of your electrical use to NVE so they can turn off our appliances (including heat and cooling) remotely without our permission at anytime. NVE wants to do this through Home Area Network (HAN) so they can implement time of use pricing and energy use behavior modification from consumers through a program call O-Power. Some engineers and energy conservation experts believe that the smart meters program—in totality—could well actually increase total electricity consumption and therefore the carbon footprint as well.

10- The FCC guidelines for RF emissions states that no one can have a device on there home that has more than one antenna. The Sensus smart meters deployed by NVE have 2 antennas and are a transmitting surveillance device. NVE has been exempt from the rule. FCC says that in order to transmit the two way communication of customer’s personal energy information, NVE must first obtain the customer’s written permission especially when it comes to the collection and possible resale of private information. NVE did not get anyone’s permission.

11- On December 28^th in response to PUCN’s request NVE made 4 proposals for those customers who wished to “opt out” of the NVE smart meter program. Unfortunately, all of the options will cost the customer big bucks to keep their analog or non-transmitting meter. There will be an initial re-install fee of over $100 and an additional $15 monthly fee into perpetuity. Two of the options will either be an analog or digital non-transmitting meter and the other two options will still be collecting and transmitting our personal information. This needs to be an OPT IN situation for those who want the smart meter and those who don’t should be allowed to keep their old analog as the standard meter. NVE wants the PUCN to change rule 16 allowing the Smart Meter to be the standard. This would be disastrous for consumers from both an economic and personal privacy/security standpoint.

12 – These meters give total control of your electrical use to NVE – they can turn off your appliances including your heat and cooling remotely without your permission at anytime. NVE wants (HAN) Home area network so they can implement time of use pricing and implement . NVE wants behavior modification from consumers.
